Planet Horticulture was invited to create an entry statement for the arboretum that would entice visitors into the botanical garden and say something about the larger collection beyond the entry space. We turned the pre-existing flat borders into a complex geography of mounds and troughs supported by chunks of cut stone, ceramic pipes and urns, all of which created numerous microhabitats and planting spaces. Nearly 500 types of plants, some donated by nurseries, others from the Arboretum collection, were then displayed in an intricate arrangement that showcased the beauty and diversity of the plant kingdom.
